To join our chapter, you’ll need to create a profile on the national AAUP website, select IUB as your chapter, and pay dues. Dues for the AAUP national organization are on a sliding scale based on self-reported income; we do not charge additional chapter membership dues.
Some new members have found it difficult to navigate the registration page. Here is a step-by-step guide to make this clearer:
- Navigate to aaup.org/join. Click the big green “Join” button!
- Choose whether to pay in monthly installments, or in one installment (easiest if you’ll be using a p-card or requesting reimbursement from a research account).
- Enter your name, email (we strongly recommend using a non-IU address for this), and a password.

Follow up with the chapter
About a week after you join (and pay dues to) AAUP, the national office will send the chapter an updated roster. If your registration was successful, you will soon receive a welcome email from the IUB chapter secretary, and you’ll be added to our chapter announcement list. If you do not receive this welcome within two weeks, or if you have any difficulties registering, email us for help.
