Join the IUB chapter of AAUP

To join our chapter, you’ll need to create a profile on the national AAUP website, select Indiana University Bloomington as your chapter, and pay dues. Dues for the AAUP national organization are on a sliding scale based on self-reported income; we do not charge additional dues at the chapter level.

Some new members have found it difficult to navigate the registration page. Here is a step-by-step guide to make this clearer:

  1. Navigate to aaup.org/join. Click the big green “Join” button!
  2. Choose whether to pay in monthly installments, or in one installment (easiest if you’ll be using a p-card or requesting reimbursement from a research account).
  3. Enter your name, email (we strongly recommend using a non-IU address for this), and a password.
  4. In the Institution field, start typing “Indiana U…” (not “IU”) and choose “Indiana University/Bloomington” as your chapter, and select your appropriate Employment Status.
  5. Continue entering your personal information.
  6. Under Dues Categories, choose your dues bracket (based on self-reported income) and subscription plan, and decide if you want to automatically renew each year.
  7. Pay your dues, and your membership is complete. You should shortly receive a confirmation email from national AAUP that you have joined!

Follow up with the chapter

Please send us an email letting us know that you have joined, or if you have any difficulties trying to register. Once a week, the national office sends the chapter an updated roster and we’ll be watching for your name. Within a week or two, you will receive a welcome email from the IUB chapter secretary, and you’ll be added to our chapter announcement list.
