April 29, 2026: Public Presentation and Q&A with Howard Bunsis

Indiana University Has the Money! Public Online Presentation and Q&A with Howard Bunsis
Wednesday, April 29 | 7:30PM | Virtual

Join IUB-AAUP for a public online presentation and Q&A with Howard Bunsis on the results of an independent financial analysis of Indiana University commissioned by the chapter. This event will offer faculty, staff, students, and community members an opportunity to hear directly about the university’s finances and what the analysis reveals about IU’s actual fiscal position.

At this presentation, we’ll reflect on answers to the questions:

  1. Can a university with $3.5 billion cash reserve declare financial exigency?
  2. Does a university that subsidizes 14% of its Athletic expenses but spends only 6.6% of its budget on research have academic excellence as its main focus?
  3. What does a growth of 23% in top-level administrators add to the university’s mission, when the faculty grows by only 1.7% during the same period, while enrollment goes up by 6.8%?
  4. Is a university that has rewarded its teaching and research faculty with raises half the size of the inflation in the last 8 years competitive in recruiting great talent in 2026?

At a time when administrators continue to invoke financial constraint to justify decisions affecting salaries, academic priorities, and the future of the university, this presentation will help clarify what the numbers show and why they matter. Dr. Bunsis will present key findings from the analysis, followed by a question-and-answer session.

The event will take place online on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at 7:30 PM. The flyer, below, includes the Zoom link for attending. IUB-AAUP also encourages readers to check out its press release highlighting some of Dr. Bunsis’s findings in advance of the event.

All are welcome.
